Overview

Sri Lanka is one of the world’s 25 biodiversity hotspots, a rich ecosystem for numerous species of plants and animals, including unique endemic varieties. The island nation has a variety of habitats teeming with wildlife, from expansive coastlines to tropical rainforests and rolling hillsides.

This eight-day guided tour takes you to some popular national parks across the country for exciting game drives, trekking, cycling, hiking, and whitewater rafting excursions. You’ll boat across the Mundu River, hike through the unique Sinharaja rainforest, search for elephants and leopards in Udawalawe and Yala national parks and reach the World’s End, among others.

You will also be able to spend a night camping in the jungles of Yala National Park with an excellent BBQ dinner.

Day 1

Reach Bentota

4 Star Hotel at Citrus Waskaduwa You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel in Negombo, Colombo, or Mount Lavinia by your guide and driven to Waskaduwa.

Day 2

Bentota - Sinharaja

Eco lodge After breakfast, take a boat ride in the Madu River. Madu River is a biodiversity haven and is home to a wide range of aquatic and avian life as well as wetland dwelling amphibians, reptiles, and mammals that inhabit. Afterward, you will be driven to Sinharaja (approx. 3 hours’ drive). In the afternoon, embark on a guided trek across the Sinharaja Rainforest, which is a world heritage site and a major ecotourism destination in Sri Lanka. Overnight at Rainforest Eco Lodge or a similar hotel.

Day 3

Sinharaja - Udawalawa

4 Star Hotel Head for Udawalawe early in the morning (approx. 4 hours’ drive) and check in to Grand Udawalawe. Late afternoon, take a game drive to Udawalawe National Park. Udawalawe is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. MEALS Breakfast

Day 4

Udawalawa - Yala

Campsite In the morning, head for Yala (approx. 2 hours’ drive). In the late afternoon, you can enjoy a game drive at Yala National Park, famous for its leopards. Overnight at a jungle campsite with a BBQ dinner. MEALS Breakfast & Dinner

Day 5

Yala - Ella

4 Star Hotel at Mount Heaven Today, reach Ella (approx. 3 hours' drive). In the afternoon, hike with your guide to Ella Gap, Little Adam's Peak, and Rawana Waterfalls. MEALS Breakfast

Day 6

Ella - Nuwara Eliya

4 Star Hotel at Grand Camellia Drive to Horton Plains (approx. 2 hours), then take a guided walk along the nature trails to a viewpoint known as the World’s End. MEALS Breakfast

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya - Kithulgala

4 Star Hotel at Plantation Villa Take on a whitewater adventure with a rafting trip on Kelani River, Kitulgala. In the afternoon, take a cycling tour nearby the village. MEALS Breakfast

Day 8

Kithulgala - Colombo

Your remarkable wildlife tour of Sri Lanka comes to an end. After breakfast, you will be taken to your hotel in Colombo, Negombo, or dropped off at the airport.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.

We always stay at here when in town. The location is great, staff is wonderful and we love the overall feel. Beautiful view from the here.

This is the best tour on the east coast! It was amazing how many places we visited and what great memories we made!
